My history of dieting and why i chose the atkins diet.

Dear everyone, as you may have seen in my description my name is avi and I'm 20 years old from Manchester. Since i was about 11 years old I have been constantly putting on weight and haven't looked back or skinnier (well besides one year) ever since. I am now 20 nearly 21 and have decided to start the Atkins diet which will hopefully make me look and feel the person I really want to be. All of us overweight people know that this is one of the hardest battles we will ever experience in our lives (isn't it annoying that skinny people don't believe us). We have all tried many diets and failed and we just wish we could find one that would work. Well in the Summer of 2006 i had enough of myself and decided to starve myself until i became skinny, so i went on this crazy diet of hardly eating and not enjoying myself but i lost alot of weight on it. By the summer of 2007 i had lost over 70 pounds. But sadly enough it didn't last very long. That summer i worked in a restaurant for 2 months and you can just imagine how much i ate. Well by the summer of 2008 i was close to where i had originally started (the story of my life). After that time i was on and off my diet and was constantly gaining and losing a few pounds here and there. In march 2009 i got married to my beautiful wife and at the wedding everything was perfect besides my suit size :-(. This past summer she realised even though i would never admit it that my weight really bothered me so she encouraged me to go and see a dietitian. I went to meet this dietitian and she decided that the best diet for me at that time was the slimmers world (red & green) (have you ever found that skinny dietitians never understand us overweight people). we gave it a try together and i started losing a bit of weight little by little. Not very fast though and it started getting very frustrating because every time i would want to enjoy myself and cheat on the diet a little i didn't lose weight that week so after about 2 months i quit because it was just too hard. since then until now i have gained 1 stone which brings my weight at the moment to the grand total of 21.7 stone (138 1/2 kg). now you may be wondering why i chose the Atkins diet even though many of my friends discouraged it and most people (mainly skinny ones) will say that you cant lose fast weight rather you have got to overhaul and change your entire way of eating. well ill explain to you why i chose the Atkins. many people wont understand this but when a person is overweight and always has been he obviously has very little self control regarding eating and he obviously enjoys his food. so how do you think it is possible for a person to change and suddenly go onto a diet which consists of vegetables vegetables and more vegetables? it doesn't work maybe for some people it does but for many it doesn't. so if you study the Atkins diet you See that you can enjoy foods and still lose weight. it may not be the healthiest way but it works and the truth is if you ask any overweight person like me they will tell you that the only thing they want at the moment is to be skinny. we don't care if its unhealthy or if we might put the weight back on we will worry about that when we are skinny. so please dont reply by saying Atkins is stupid because its unhealthy and you will put the weight back on because i want to see you weighing over 300 pounds right now with your self confidence regarding our weight at rock bottom and then we will see how you feel about going no the Atkins. so this is the beginning of the journey for me and i hope at the end we will have a happy ending.
